Whether it’s the roots of home or a wild escape from the rat race, most artists have a place that unlocks their imagination. Tara Jane, a part artist – part psychologist hybrid, gets her imaginative flow from gardens, forests and nature.

Life in Brisbane revolves around the outdoors and with almost 300 days of sunshine per year, it was only natural for tara to make nature her muze. Inspired by the world around her, Tara’s rendered compositions not only are testament to her talent, but also speak volumes about her love for her art.

Splash of colours

Art was something that came naturally to Tara. Never having taken a lesson, her journey crossed through countless rounds of trial and error and persistence. Over time she evolved through mediums to find that painting was what flowed the best for her.

Further she decided to carve her own niche in the world of paints.

I feel as though I’ve tried most mediums that are out there. I’ve tried gouache, postercolour, watercolour, oil, acrylic, mixed-media things using materials etc., and even things like clay. Still – I’m nowhere near finished in the playground.

Pigment of imagination

A prolific practitioner of expressing her perceptions before nature. Tara, loves painting hidden pathways, covered entirely by lush vegetation, creating a green landscape. For her there is something both eerie and striking about completely overgrown plant-life that creates secret and hidden places.

I love places that have paths leading to or from something that is created in the imagination of whoever is looking.

Healing with painting

When Tara is not painting, she loves being able to help people and give others a space to feel heard and understood.

A psychologist in the making, Tara aims to be able to combine both art and therapy.

ART—THE WOUNDTURNS INTO LIGHT WHEN IT ENABLES US TO SEE THE PAIN. ONCE WE SEE THE PAIN, HEALING BEGINS.
